The KKE denounces the new escalation of imperialist aggression by the US government against Venezuela, by sending warships with thousands of marines near Venezuela, under the pretext of fighting drug cartels. The real reasons lie in the attempt by US monopolies to get their hands on Venezuela's huge energy reserves and in the US government's attempt to repel China's economic and political penetration in Latin America, in the context of their rivalry for primacy in the global imperialist system.

The KKE categorically condemns any plan for armed imperialist intervention in Venezuela and expresses its solidarity with the working class and people of Venezuela, who are the only ones empowered to determine developments in their homeland. It expresses its solidarity with the Communist Party of Venezuela, which, under difficult conditions of persecution, is fighting to defend the interests of the working class and the people.
